The BCI Skills Center will host a Disability Transition Planning Conference on Friday, September 15 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Ameristar Casino Resort Spa located at 1 Ameristar Blvd., St. Charles, Mo. 63301. The event is free and will offer direction and inspiration to young adults with disabilities and their families as they prepare for successful transitions to adult life and independence.
“We understand the stress associated with navigating the transition process for individuals, families, and the professionals who support them,” said Skills Center Chief Program Officer Jeremy Sutton. “Our goal is to share knowledge and hope for families that they are not alone once the school bus stops coming.”
This year’s conference will also feature an integrated resource fair where attendees can meet with a variety of agencies that provide vital services including housing, recreation, and more.
Kim Gee, University of Missouri Director of Pre-Employment Transition Services, will give the keynote address. Gee is a certified rehabilitation counselor whose experience includes working in both public and private vocational rehabilitation. Before joining the University of Missouri in 2021, she worked for Missouri Vocational Rehabilitation. Kim’s goal is to help Missouri youth achieve their full potential.
The conference is free and includes lunch. To register, visit https://2023-BCI-transition-planning-conference.eventbrite.com.
