Matt joined BCI in 2020 with a diverse background in employment services, recruitment, and nonprofit leadership. With a demonstrated track record of building programs and relationships that create opportunities for people with disabilities, he is passionate about empowering people to realize their potential and articulate their value. Matt has a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication and a master’s degree in Nonprofit Leadership.
Phil McRaven
Transitional Employment Manager
It was our lucky day when Phil returned to BCI in 2021. Having worked as a Production Manager under our organizational employment program from 2016 to 2020, he became well-versed in leading adults with disabilities. Today, as Transitional Employment Manager, he will continue to support these men and women as they explore competitive work in the community. Phil has a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Bradley University.
Lisa Vergiza
Vocational Instructor
Lisa joined the Skills Center full-time in July 2022 after moonlighting with us summers and weekends for one year as a seasonal Job Coach. Previously, she worked for the Center for Head Injury Services and Special School District. Five years into what she calls her “second career,” Lisa couldn’t imagine a more fulfilling line of work and takes great satisfaction in the growth and success of her clients. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Missouri.
Crystal Peterson
Vocational Instructor
Crystal Peterson joined BCI in 2007 as Regional Coordinator for Show Me Shine, a commercial cleaning subsidiary created to expand competitive job opportunities. When Show Me Shine transitioned into the Skills Center’s Hospitality program in 2020, Crystal was the natural choice to become its first vocational instructor. She now also leads the Health Care & Social Assistance Support and Custodial programs, drawing on 15 years of prior hospital cleaning experience. She loves watching students grow throughout their training, often transforming from shy beginners into confident, capable workers. She especially enjoys following their progress after graduation and seeing them build friendships and thrive alongside their coworkers.
Diana Barber
Benefits Case Manager
Diana joined BCI in 2025 as a Benefits Case Manager, bringing extensive experience from her previous role at Sts. Joachim and Ann Care Service, where she supported families, children, individuals with disabilities, and the homeless. Before stepping into her role, Diana trained under longtime BCI Benefits Case Manager Sandy Weitkamp, ensuring a seamless transition of support for the individuals and families who rely on these services. She holds a BA in Psychology from Quincy University and is earning accreditation in benefits counseling through Cornell University. Passionate about inclusion, Diana helps individuals receiving public benefits understand how work incentives can lead to employment and greater financial independence. LaMonte' Hamilton II
Benefits Case Manager
LaMonte’ Hamilton II joined BCI in 2025 as a Benefits Case Manager, where he advises individuals and families on applying for and managing disability benefits, particularly while employed. He previously worked as a Social Worker with the St. Louis Society for the Blind and Visually Impaired, where he completed intake assessments and referrals. Later, he returned as a Master of Social Work (MSW) student to practice case management. LaMonte’ earned his Bachelor of Social Work from UMSL in 2021 and his MSW from Missouri Baptist University in 2025. Motivated by personal experiences with disability, he is passionate about inclusion and grateful to serve BCI’s mission.
